The Medicine Bow Museum houses local history. Our stories feature fossil discoveries, Native Americans, tie hacks, ranching and early settlement, the Union Pacific Railroad, the Lincoln Highway, and the influence of Owen Wister's western novel, The Virginian on the community of Medicine Bow.

The Virginian Exhibit

Fans of Owen Wister's novel will enjoy seeing stars from The Virginian television show and films. The story of the famous Virginian Hotel is also on display.

Union Pacific Railroad Depot & Caboose

Our historic Union Pacific depot houses railroad memoriabilia spanning 68 years. A caboose was gifted to the Museum as a reminder of the importance of the railroad.
